Muzyk przyjedzie do Utah promować wyreżyserowany przez siebie dokument „Sound City”. Grohl szykuje też specjalny występ z udziałem zaprzyjaźnionych artystów. Na scenie weprą go kumple z Nirvany (Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear) i Foo Fighters (Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett), jak również John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks z Fleetwood Mac, Alain Johannes, producent Chris Goss, gitarzysta Cheap Trick, Rick Nielsen, wokalista Fear Lee Ving, perkusista Rage Against the Machine Brad Wilk, Rami Jaffee z The Wallflowers oraz Corey Taylor śpiewający w Slipknot i Stone Sour. Koncert odbędzie się 18 stycznia w Salt Lake City.
„Sound City” opowiada o nieistniejącym już studiu nagraniowym, w którym powstawało „Nevermind” Nirvany, a także „Iowa” Slipknot czy „Rumours” Fleetwood Mac.
W marcu ukaże się soundtrack do filmu.
